Blue Leaf Initiative
The Blue Leaf initiative offers youth mental health prevention through collaboration, connection and community.
The initiative offers weekly opportunities for youth to connect at the City of Bunbury Koolambidi Woola youth precinct as well as one-off events, collaborating with others, for youth to engage in activities that raise awareness of mental health and help seeking.
Blue Leaf also coordinates a range of mental health prevention training for the community including:
- LivingWorks safeTALK (15+)
- Youth Mental Health First Aid (18+)
- Conversations About Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (18+)
This training is aimed at youth where appropriate as research identifies most young people experiencing suicidality do not seek help from mental health services and are more likely to seek help from peers. (Source: Suicide Prevention Australia, Youth Report, 2021).
The training is also suitable for people who work with youth, employers of youth and parent/carers of youth.
